A single card (the Joker or game card) is placed face up in the center. The dealer then alternately deals cards to two positions — Andar (left/inside) and Bahar (right/outside). Players bet on which side will first receive a card matching the Joker's value. The first card is dealt to Andar. If the Joker is black, the first card goes to Andar; if red, to Bahar (rules may vary). Cards continue to be dealt alternately until a match appears. Some versions offer side bets on the number of cards dealt before a match, the suit or color of the matching card, and more.

In the basic game, Andar has a slight statistical advantage because it receives the first card (the match is slightly more likely to appear on the side dealt first). Typical odds give Andar about a 51.5% chance of winning. Choose tables with the best payouts — some casinos pay 0.9:1 on Andar and 1:1 on Bahar to equalize. Side bets on card count ranges can offer larger payouts but come with higher house edges. Keep your stakes consistent and avoid chasing losses.

Andar Bahar is primarily a game of chance with very simple gameplay. The mathematically better bet is usually Andar due to the first-card advantage. However, some casinos adjust payouts to compensate, so always check the paytable. For side bets, early match ranges (1-5 cards) are less likely but pay more, while later ranges (26-30+) are also less likely. Middle ranges (6-15 cards) are the most probable. Use flat betting for consistent play and set clear session limits.
